When Latter-day Saints packed their scant belongings into wagons or handcarts and tramped at great sacrifice across a dusty wilderness, they had one thing in mind. They wanted to leave Babylon behind and create a better world. We, who carry their legacy, have the same feelings today. We want to shape the world our families are growing up in--not just be shaped by it.

Our challenge is that on every side--especially in the media--we are
bombarded by Babylon. There is no leaving it behind. Everything from
news and trends to how to rear our children is brought to us by people
whose value systems are at odds with our own. A battle is raging for our
minds and hearts, and ideas are the ammunition.

That's why President Hinckley's words ring with
such power: "I urge you with all the capacity that I have to reach out
in a duty that stands beyond the requirements of our everyday lives,
that is, to stand strong, even to become a leader in speaking up in
behalf of those causes which make our civilization shine and which give
comfort and peace to our lives. You can be a leader. You must be a
leader..."

使命
Meridian is an online magazine that takes a new
measure of the world, seeking to explore the principles of light, life,
and truth as they apply to every aspect of our lives that we might all
be more able to grow toward that society called Zion. It assumes that
the solutions to life's real challenges as we live in the world are
found within the context of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It celebrates
life and affirms that reality is what God sees--not that darkness which
temporarily seems to flourish--that goodness will triumph and that there
is enormous potential in the human spirit.
「メリディアン」はシオンと呼ばれる社会に少しでも近づけるように、私たちの生活のあらゆる面に当てはまる光、命、真理の原則を探究し、社会を別な角度から見るためのインターネット・マガジンです。この世界で生活するときに来る現実のチャレンジに対する解決策は、イエス・キリストの福音の中に見出すことができると考えています。この世での一生をたたえて、現実とは一時的に繁栄するかのように見えるあの暗黒の力ではなく、神が見なすものであり、善は必ず勝利をおさめ、人の霊には非常に大きい可能性があることを確信しています。
