Thank you for the beautiful articles that you have written in the Japanese Meridian Magazine. My husband and I are one of the fortunate couples that can retire before we are 65. In fact, we are both 62 this month. We plan to be in Japan early next year. (Japan in January is our motto). We are in the process of beginning our mission papers. We have sold our home in Idaho and purchased a home in SLC in preparation for leaving for our missions.

My heart sang with joy when I read your words that many couples would be fortunate enough to retire early in order to be missionaries in Japan. My husband, Keith Prisbrey, is the returned Northern Far East Missionary; I served my mission in England and Wales. I have studied some Japanese, but am far from being able to speak the language and much farther away from being able to read it.

My husband has been practicing his kanji and his reading for some time now. He will be particularly pleased that good LDS articles are now available on the internet in Japanese. He says it is easier to get the translation when you can clip the kanji phrase out of the article and insert it into the dictionary. However, he is looking for a good dictionary of LDS terms to go along with his on-line regular Japanese dictionary.

Please continue to print some of the articles in English as well as Japanese. Those of us who will be accompanying our returned missionary spouses also need to know what is going on.

Sincerely, Kandace Prisbrey
