Dear Dee: Hisashiburi desu. It really has been a long time. I trust that you are well. I have recently enjoyed reading with great interest your account of your labors as president of the Tokyo South Mission posted on Wade Fillmore's Meridian/Japanese web-site. I am most favorably impressed with the marvelous accomplishments of yourself and your missionaries as you together with Elder Kikuchi sought to carry out the desires expressed by President Kimball. I find myself in agreement with every thing you did and I wholeheartedly congratulate you on a job well done. It seems to me that the things you learned and applied could be well utilized by the Japanese members as they rise up and bring forth the great surge in church growth in Japan which will undoubtedly take place. Forgive me for observing that you and Wade Fillmore and Elder Kikuchi were all missionaries of mine in the Northern Far East Mission, and that I am proud to claim you all as such. Sister Andrus and I are growing old, now in our mid eighties, and are experiencing our share of the afflictions of old age but we are nevertheless still up and around and all things considered we are in fairly good health. Frances joins in sending warm Aloha, Paul Andrus. |
